Ibiza Cats / Eivissa Gatos advocates the humane control of feral cats and runs Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) programmes for stray cats where it has permission to work under a byelaw from the local council.
In a Trap-Neuter-Release program, cats are humanely trapped (with traps), brought to a local veterinarian to be spayed or neutered, treated against fleas and worms and any other treatment that they require. All cats are also eartipped - a universal sign that a cat has been neutered, and then returned to their outdoor home.
With years of experience on the island, we have built up relationships with local vets who work tirelessly to help neuter as many cats as possible, ensuring each individual cat is treated for it's individual needs.
Cats which have been neutered and returned to their original environment under the TNR programme continue to live independent lives but the population is controlled, creating better welfare of the cats and for the people living around them.
We currently only have the funds and volunteers to fund a 2 week trip once a year - the next TNR trip will be in October 2017 - dates tbc.
